What are the average temperatures during the year?

What temperature is the heated pool in the winter?

Depending on the ambient temperature, the water in the heated pool is kept at 27-29 degrees.

Does it ever rain?

As for any natural phenomenon, it is possible that it might rain during your stay. Nevertheless, rain is extremely rare here, as it normally only happens for a few hours every 6 or 7 years.

I have heard that there are dangerous fish in the sea, is that true?

Any sea in the world may contain potentially dangerous species. But by taking care and using normal common sense (not touching any fish or coral, not feeding the fish, etc.), accidents involving marine life can be virtually eliminated.

Is it always very windy?

Marsa Alam lies on a stretch of desert coast without high ground, which makes it a fascinating landscape albeit one that has no natural shelter to offer on windy days. The average wind speed during the year is around 18-30 km/h. This is not usually troublesome, and every beach umbrella has its own windbreak.

Why do you still not have a landing pier?

The Gorgonia Beach Resort is inside the Wadi el Gimal Natural Park, which is a protected and monitored marine area. Our plans for a low-environmental impact landing pier, carefully designed to minimise biological changes to the underwater habitats are therefore currently subject to scrutiny by the Egyptian environmental authorities and the Natural Parks management.

Is access to the sea difficult?

Accessing the sea is safe and easy. Nevertheless it is advisable to wear rubber shoes, given the stony coral sea bed in some areas.

What papers and documentation are necessary to enter Egypt?

Do the hotel staff speak English?

Many of our staff speak enough English to deal with guests. You will not find any language barrier at reception or in the restaurants.

Are Euros accepted in Egypt?

Euros are not accepted in Egypt. Euros can be changed to Egyptian Pounds at reception.

I am a coeliac: do you have gluten-free dishes on your menus?

Our menus always offer naturally gluten-free foods, although as all dishes are prepared in the same kitchen, we cannot guarantee that there will be no cross-contamination.
